			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>ICNS – Renovating the Global Air Transportation System</h3>
<p>The <strong>2011 Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference</strong> addresses long term research and development as well as early implementation of integrated CNS technologies needed to enable NextGen and SESAR.</p>
<p>The Conference is focused on providing an understanding of CNS programs, longer term plans, standards development, research, and ICNS technologies. As we launch the second decade of the ICNS Conference, we focus on the renovation of the communications, navigation, surveillance, and information technology infrastructure underpinning the migration to a true next generation global air transportation system.</p>
<p>Each day begins with a plenary session. On Tuesday, May 10 we examine “<strong>NextGen Progress, Plans and Partnerships with the User Community</strong>,” looking at accomplishments in both development and implementation and where NextGen is heading from various stakeholder perspectives. On Wednesday, May 11 the plenary focus will be on “<strong>NextGen and SESAR – Global Harmonization Progress and Pitfalls</strong>.” The third plenary on Thursday, May 12 will address two topics: “<strong>Integrating C, N, and S: What Does it Mean?</strong>” and “<strong>Welcoming Unmanned Aircraft Systems into the NAS</strong>.”<span id="more-815"></span></p>
<p>The plenary sessions are complemented by several parallel sessions in the afternoon on specific ICNS topics. For these technical sessions papers and presentations are requested along the key topical areas listed below.</p>

<h4><strong>Student Paper Competition</strong></h4>
<p>The Digital Avionics Technical Committee is sponsoring a student paper competition for the 2011 ICNS. Active students and professionals within two years of graduation are eligible for <strong>ICNS Student Best Paper</strong> honorarium awards. Papers eligible for these awards must be tagged as &#8220;Student&#8221; when submitted, and the first author listed on the paper must be a student.</p>
<h4><strong>Abstract Submission</strong></h4>
<p>Authors are invited to submit abstracts of <strong>no more than 750 words</strong> by <strong>January 31, 2011</strong> on any of the topics listed above through the <a href="http://i-cns.org/abstract-submission/">online ICNS Abstract Submission Form</a> (now closed).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The 2008 Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference, jointly sponsored by government and industry, addresses research and development of integrated CNS technologies for advanced aeronautical digital information systems and applications supporting the future global air transportation systems.<span id="more-14"></span></p>
<p>The Conference is focused on understanding CNS programs, plans, research and technology, and other relevant issues for both near/mid-term (by 2015) and far-term (beyond 2015) time frames.</p>
<p>The conference will include three plenary sessions, opening with <strong>Future of Airspace</strong>, in which the JPDO updates NextGen CNS activities and Eurocontrol describes SESAR status and progress. An <strong>Operational Challenges</strong> plenary focuses on users and requirements. The final plenary is all about <strong>Getting Connected</strong> so that <strong>I</strong>nformation <strong>C</strong>reates <strong>N</strong>extGen <strong>S</strong>ervices â€“ <strong>I</strong>CNS! Afternoon technical sessions provide detailed information on ICNS topics each day.</p>
