Call for Participation 2014

Blocks and Builds – Air and Ground Convergence

The 2014 Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference addresses long-term research and development of integrated CNS technologies for advanced aeronautical digital information systems and applications supporting the future global air transportation systems. The Conference, jointly sponsored by government and industry, focuses on understanding CNS programs, plans, research and technology, and other relevant issues impacting aviation modernization. The ICNS 2014 conference assembles national and international government and industry leaders to address important policy issues affecting aviation and technical experts present developments in each CNS and enabling disciplines.

Each day begins with a plenary session. On Tuesday, April 08, the conference starts by addressing the latest plans and activities of the US’s NextGen Program, Europe’s SESAR Program and standardization efforts ongoing at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) that enable the convergence of US and European efforts.

On Wednesday, April 09, the focus is on Unmanned Aircraft Systems standards development and airspace integration progress; CNS developments that will enable seamless integration of Unmanned Aircraft into the airspace, their impact on the existing aviation system nationally and globally.

The third plenary on Thursday, April 10, will have two components: the first focuses on operational perspectives with presentations from the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) community, followed by workshops that will address current CNS investigation, gaps and possible solutions.

Afternoon Technical Sessions

Every afternoon, the conference offers technical sessions covering specific ICNS topics. Papers and presentations are requested for the technical sessions along the key topical areas listed below. Exhibits and product demonstration by representatives of CNS-related Industries/Organizations are also invited.

Best Paper Competition – Student and Professional

The 2014 ICNS Conference is sponsoring student and professional Best Paper competitions. Active students and professionals within two years of graduation are eligible for ICNS Student Best Paper honorarium awards. Those not eligible for Best Student Paper are eligible for Best Professional Paper awards.

Abstract Submission

Authors are invited to submit abstracts of no more than 750 words by January 18, 2014 on the key topical areas listed above or other relevant aeronautical CNS topics through the online ICNS Abstract Submission Form (coming soon).

Follow-up Deadlines

February 08, 2014: Notification of acceptance of papers/presentations
March 22, 2014: Final papers due
March 29, 2014: Final presentations due
