Given the very tight coupling between successful automation program delivery and current system operation, the PMO also leads and manages all second-level automation engineering efforts. Additionally, the PMO manages significant business process re-engineering efforts for other FAA lines of business. Finally, the PMO works directly with FAA operations and aviation users to develop and implement avionics standards and systems that ensure globally interoperable solutions for the NextGen. Jim has been working acquisition programs since joining the FAA in 1996. In addition to program development and execution, he has been active in leading acquisition management policy and workforce development. Prior to joining the FAA, Jim spent 18 years working for the U.S. Navy, concluding his work with the Naval Command Control and Ocean Surveillance Center in tactical communications research and development.
