The 2011 ICNS Conference would like to announce the winners of the Best Professional and Student Paper Awards.

Best Professional Papers

  • 1st Place: “Using the Future L-Band Communication System for Navigation,” Michael Schnell, Ulrich Epple, and Felix Hoffmann; German Aerospace Center (DLR)
  • 2nd Place: “FIS-B Service Tiering and Recommended Avionics Processing Algorithms,” Paul Freeman, Michael Garcia, and Ralph Smith; ITT Corporation
  • 3rd Place: “A Method for Identifying Connected Flights in Aviation Schedules,” Kenneth Wright, Sensis Corporation

Winner Student Paper Award

  • “ADS-B Space-Oriented Message Set Design,” Pengfei Duan, Ohio University

Honorable Mention Student Paper Award

  • “Using an Equilibrium Model to Forecast Airline Behavior in Response to Economic or Regulatory Changes,” John Ferguson, George Mason University
