Conference Theme: “External Drivers on CNS Evolution”

The Integrated Communications Navigation and Surveillance (ICNS) Conference is the premier international aviation conference addressing technology and policy advances in CNS – new research, development and implementation programs and policies related to ICNS/ATM capabilities and applications. Jointly sponsored by government and industry, the ICNS Conference assembles national and international government and industry leaders to address important policy issues with technical experts and thought leaders.

The 2018 ICNS Conference impact will feature subject matter experts from many sectors of the CNS/ATM domain, including airline operators, airport authorities, and datalink service providers. The more inclusive nature of the participation provides an opportunity for an enhanced and efficient perspective to the researchers from the external stakeholders, with the view toward better understanding economic needs, limitations, and operational benefits; successful CNS/ATM development and deployment relies on the collaboration between all stakeholders.

The invited experts shall identify external factors that drive their collective needs (e.g., climate change, aircraft design evolution, UAV integration, economic purchasing power of passengers, radio frequency spectrum constraints, emerging new aviation systems). The plenary sessions will help set the stage for the expected economic, operational, and external context for the research presentations.

Outstanding Plenary Sessions and Interactive Workshop

  • Tuesday, 10 April: Plenary: Global Harmonization
  • Wednesday, 11 April : Plenary: Stakeholder Expectations on CNS from the Airport/Airlines Community
  • Wednesday, 11 April: Interactive Workshop
  • Thursday, 12 April: Plenary: Use of Commercial Services/Outsourcing to Supply CNS services – Pros and Cons
  • Thursday, 12 April: Plenary: UAS Integration Opportunities and Constraints for CNS

Afternoon Technical Sessions

ICNS 2018 will offer exceptional technical sessions. Papers and presentations are solicited for technical sessions addressing the key topical areas listed below:

  • Data and Voice Communications Systems
  • Surveillance Systems & Situational Awareness
  • Navigation Systems & APNT

Exhibits

ICNS 2018 invites exhibits and product demonstrations by representatives of CNS-related industries and organizations. Participating as an exhibitor in the conference allows close-up interaction with customers and key policy decision makers to help move your research and products closer to daily operations. For more information, please contact the 2018 Sponsors and Exhibits Chair Paul Kostek, p.kostek@ieee.org.

Best Paper Competition – Student and Professional

The 2018 ICNS Conference is sponsoring student and professional Best Paper competitions. Active students and professionals within two years of graduation are eligible for ICNS Student Best Paper awards. Those not eligible for Best Student Paper are eligible for Best Professional Paper awards.
