ICNS 2022 Tech Talks

European Strategy on Trajectory-based Operations (TBO)

Join Olivia Nunez (SESAR Joint Undertaking), Eivan Cerasi (EUROCONTROL) and Cristian Pradera (SESAR Deployment Manager) to discuss the European Strategy on Trajectory-based Operations (TBO). They will address the status of TBO implementation in Europe, its technical enablers, and R&D activities on future concepts supported by ATS B2. The presentation will include a description of representative use cases in a dense continental airspace environment and its operational benefits.

Internet Protocol Suite (IPS), its evolution and development, validation through trials, and next steps.

Greg Saccone is a Technical Fellow, Airspace Operational Efficiency, at Boeing Research and Technology. Greg has 25+ years in the aeronautical datalink communication area. He works on advanced air traffic management concepts, research, operational trials, and implementation, specializing in data link communication and flight data processing. Regarding the IPS projects at Boeing, Greg leads both internal and joint industry research projects and is currently the co-chair of the Airlines Electronics Engineering Committee (AEEC) IPS for the Aviation Safety Services group.

Certifying Advanced Technology Projects

Dr. Michael (Mike) Romanowski is the FAA Aircraft Certification Service’s (AIR) Director of the Policy & Innovation Division (AIR-600). Do you want to fly over people or wonder how the UAS Airlines will reach the certification finish line? Well, Mike is the right person to ask and learn how any aircraft operation starts with a certified aircraft approved by his office. Mike has served in many roles at the FAA and will be talking about his current role and taking your questions.
